She's The Planner
Deb is the planning mastermind behind Nature Walks and Coffee Shops….In some ways, she enjoys the planning of the trip just as much as the actual trip itself.
Whether it’s researching the potential destinations, finding flights or hotels, and even thinking through the right way to approach the travel when we get there….she thinks through it all.
Deb is a Canadian by birth and maintains her dual-citizenship between Canada and the United States. As a girl, she grew up living in Maine and Kansas, spending time in both the hot/humid Summers of Kansas and the frigid winters of DownEast Maine.
She loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, and even a bit of climbing. She put her hiking skills to the test recently with climbs up Camelback Mountain and Piestawa Peak in Phoenix and really enjoyed both double-diamond hikes.
With every trip that we share, Deb’s goal is to help others plan their adventures more quickly for less money. She’ll always share tips that include:
- Ideas to consider when choosing a destination
- Recommendations when it comes to gear for the trip, with special focus on gear recommendations for women
- Things to consider when it comes to lodging and travel
- Great places to visit and things to do once you arrive
- Money saving tips that will help you stretch your travel budget

He's The Writer
Sean is the content creator behind Nature Walks and Coffee Shops….Beyond just his love for travel, he enjoys combing through hundreds of photos, writing blog posts, and keeping up with our social media audience.
While certainly not a professional photographer, he enjoys spending time behind the lens and capturing the moments that can make a trip so special. His focus, though, is to snap the moment without disrupting the experience.
Sean is a Colorado native who’s family moved to Kansas to escape the smog and dying economy of Denver in the 1980’s. He grew up skiing and hiking in the Rockies, but then shifted his focus to scouting, camping, and outdoor survival as a Boy Scout in Kansas.
He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Brownsea 22, a scouting survival and leadership training experience. He considers himself a bit of a survivalist, carrying the Boy Scout motto of “Be Prepared” into his adult life.
With every trip that we share, Sean’s goal is to help others see the adventure, with the goal of helping you determine whether this might be a trip or experience that you’d like to do. Sean will focusing on sharing tips that include:
- Driving or navigating experiences at the destination
- Tips or “nuggets” of knowledge that he thinks would be important to making the trip more enjoyable
- Recommendations on gear, including technology, photography, and any clothing or gear options that would be valuable to men
- Tips that other photographers might consider during their visit (types of wildlife, recommendations on what to bring, etc…
Our Mission
We have always loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures with our kids over the years. As our kids started lives on our own, we decided to dedicate our travels to finding some of the best outdoor adventures and coffee shops in the world! Our combined love of travel and coffee, along with our combined talents and skills have really made this site possible.
Sean is the “outdoors guy” who also loves to write and take photographs. Deb is the “world explorer” who loves to the plan every trip and find unique, amazing opportunities to discover.
Together, we love to explore destinations within the United States and around the world and share our experiences with you. The hope is that you can use our information to help shape your travel plans, or just find a great cup of coffee.
We have been together for more than 25 years and have shared our love of travel throughout our marriage. Over the years, we have hiked, cruised, camped, and vacationed throughout the US, Canada, the Bahamas, and Europe.
We continue to share our love of travel with our kids, who sometimes join us on our adventures. You’ll see them in our photos and blogs referred to as “E” (our daughter) and “Z” (our son).
We hope that our combined planning and story-telling skills will help you uncover new opportunities, assist in your planning process, and eventually lead you to new, amazing experiences.
